Anlec was the capital of the realm of Nagarythe. The city was founded by order of Aenarion who, together with his second wife Morathi, established his court there. Together they raised their son Malekith here.

The court was a savage place where prisoners where tortured and hunted for sport, reflecting Aenarion's fall from grace after the death of his first wife, Astarielle.

At the end of the Elven civil war, the city, together with much of Ulthuan, was destroyed by the Sundering, a magical backlash which produced gigantic tsunamis.

The city was rebuilt several times by invading Dark Elves to serve as a base of operatins, only to be besieged and destroyed each time by the High Elves.
