Heraldry of Parravon.

Parravon is a dukedom of Bretonnia, named after the walled city of the same name in the Grey Mountains. [1a]

Much of the Duchy is covered by forest or mountains, its southern border is marked by a line of ancient trees marking the border with Athel Loren - the Fey stay out of Parravon and expect that the humans return the courtesy. [5a]

The Parravonese are reluctant to log trees even within the area within the borders and normally only use the wood to create Grail Chapels. [5a]

Defences

The city can only be approached by a single narrow bridge created by the Elves and has many tall towers. [1a]

History

In 1045 IC, whilst riding his Pegasus Glorfinial, Agilgar is attcked by a pair of Wyverns and both mount and rider are killed. [2b]

During the Third Parravon War of 2309 IC, Graf Haldebrand successfully employs Mercenary Ogres to counter the Bretonnian cavalry, enabling him to push into Parravon and even besiege the city. [4a]

Duc Amoux employs Ogres in 2342 IC against a rival but after a victory, the mercenaries eat 19 of his favourite horses and leads to nobles refusing to hire Ogres. [4a]

in 2510 IC Baron Marcel took his entire household and set sail for Lustria, guided by a Norse map and made it safely to the New World, making landfall near Tlaxtlan. However after the newcomers explored and plundered apparently abandoned shrines and temples, including the burial chamber of a ancient Slann Mage-Priest, Lord Klaqulxol ordered the treasures be reclaimed leading to conflict. [6a]

Locations

  • Parravon (city). [4a]
  • The Glade of Children: Deep in the forest is a still pool surrounded by trees with many dolls scattered around. The Fey sometimes return children here.
  • Sanglac Castle: An abandoned castle in the mountains, anyone who tries to occupy it is always found dead - killed by Orcs. [4a]

People

Most of the people live in the fertile valley of Parravon Vale and those who dwell in the forests are considered to be part Fey. Many travel and its customary for teenagers to leave home and be raised in a different village by relatives. [5a]

Notes

  • Parravon is described as a frontier town rather than a city in Warhammer Armies: Bretonnia (5th Edition).
