History
Legend has it that the Brigundians first arrived in what would become Averland in about -1000 IC, displacing or conquering the humans that already lived there. They established a great camp on the site of modern day Averheim and raided and warred with invading Orcs & Goblins as well as other tribal kingdoms including the Unberogen. Good relations were established with the local Dwarfs with the Brigundians even providing cavalry support for their armies. [1a] [2a]
Krealheim was their first settlement but it was destroyed by the Dragon Ogre Skaranorak who had come down from the mountains after being hunted by Dwarf Slayers. [3b] Sigmar did so and
In -4 IC Sigmar travelled alone to their capital, Siggurdheim which was built on a promontory of rock surrounded by a smooth stone wall. [3a] Siggurd received him and listened to his proposal that the Brigundians join his growing alliance of tribes, but asked that Sigmar first kill Skaranorak to gain not only his tribe but also the Menogoths and the Merogens. [3b] Sigmar did just that and the three tribes joined his empire. [3c]
Siggurd, then leader of the tribe took his warriors to war at the Battle of Black Fire Pass. [1a] They suffered heavy casaulties when first the greenskin chariots smashed into their lines and then were bombarded by catapults, the gaps opened up were filled by the Dwarfs and the Udose. [3d]
In the summer of 1 IC, Sigmar called for a great muster against Marius of the Jutones and with their allies, he marched on him with a combined force of around 10,000 warriors including richly-attired Brigundian spearmen. [4a]
Sifggurdheim was besieged by the army of Nagash and fell after only a few days with Siggurd himself being transformed into a vampire by Khaled al-Muntasir. Only twelve escaped the fall of the city out of a population of around 8000. [5a] A few hundred Brigundian warriors joined the war muster of Queen Freya to avenge the lost. [5b]
