Forest Goblins are a breed of Goblins who live in the forests. Divided in several tribes and hidden in deep forests, Forest Goblins are always eager to raid and pillage isolated farms, villages, and sometimes even cities. They decorate themselves with large colourful feathers, which are used in certain combinations to distinguish tribesmen from foreigners. They also use warpaints, bones, and teeth as decoration.1 As metal ores are lacking in the forests, Forest Goblins usually wield weapons made of wood, bone, and rock. Some weapons and armours made of iron or steel might be traded and bartered from other Goblin or even Orc tribes.

Spiders have a very important role in the culture and daily life of the tribes. Small and succulent Spiders are eaten, while others are kept as pets. Large horse-sized spiders are ridden as warmounts and small poisonous spiders are used by the tribal shamans.2 A shaman will put these spiders inside his mouth so that the spiders bite him on the tongue. The poisons will drive the shaman a bit mad but also stimulate the part of his brain that controls magic.

While all other Greenskin tribes worship the twin gods Gork & Mork the Forest Goblins are known to also worship the Spider, and to adore the forests spiders as gods of the forest.

The Ironclaw are an Orc tribe situated between Blood River and the Howling River in the Badlands. They also occupy the fort of Iron Rock. They are most famous for their warboss, Gorbad Ironclaw, who is often seen as the greatest warboss who ever lived.

History of the Ironclaw Tribe
Under the leadership of Gorbad Ironclaw, the tribe first took over many different Greenskin tribes, among them the Broken Tooth Tribe. The Waaagh! gathered and travelled through Black Fire Pass into the Empire. They looted the Moot and the cities of Averheim and Nuln too. They plundered Solland and Wissenland, and continued northward, towards Altdorf. After 2 desperate charges, they were forced to start a long siege, during which many Greenskins deserted, leaving the Ironclaw and Broken Tooth as only remaining tribes of the Waaagh!. Gorbad Ironclaw admitted his defeat and started the journey home. On the way they were confronted at Blood Peak by a dwarf army from Karaz-a-Karak. The exact fate of Gorbad is unknown.

The Broken Tooth are an Orc tribe situated to the east of Fire Mountain. The tribe is ruled by Black Orcs that have high expectations of their troops, even the Goblins; this is called the 'Egstensiv trainin program'.

Egstensiv trainin program
To test a Goblin to see if he's good enough to serve in the ranks of the Broken Tooth, he must hit a target at 20 paces. Should he fail, he will become the target for the next recruit. If a Goblin can't run faster than an Orc, he will get eaten (though it should be noted that this is not seen as uncommon practice in many Orc tribes. If a wolf rider cannot control his mount, he will be fed to it. This training program has made the Goblins in the tribe decent warriors, compared to those of other tribes.

The Crooked Moon are a Night Goblin tribe that was in control of Karak Eight Peaks. They brought forth Skarsnik, their most famous member.

History of the Tribe
Under Skarsnik the Crooked Moon became the most important tribe in a confederation of Night Goblins. As they increased in power, so did the fighting with nearby dwarf and greenskin armies alike. In the year 2498 IC the Crooked Moon under the command Skarsnikof Skarsnik ambushed a dwarf army in the Mad Dog Pass, which later became known as the Battle of the Jaws (named after the greenskin formations that enclosed the dwarfs. In the following Battle of East Gate, they manage to wipe out about half of the dwarf troops, but the other half managed to get into the citadel hold of Karak Eight Peaks. The citadel remains under constant attack, and Skarsnik has also launched huge raids against Barak Varr and Karak Azul over the next 3 summers following the Battle of the East Gate.

Karak Eight Peaks is the ruins of a Dwarf fortress city originally known as Vala-Azril-Ungol ("Queen of the Silver Depths"). The city fell 2,500 years after the founding of the Dwarf Empire and the beginning of the Dwarf Golden Age.

The city was built in the Worlds Edge Mountains, in a great bowl ringed by eight high peaks. Above the surface, walls encompassed a vast area, but most of the city was built below ground. Below the earth, the city was a made up of courts and plazas with great vaulted ceilings, and further below, the tombs of the Dwarf kings and deep mines.

The city itself was well defended. Not only were its fortifications formidable, but any hostile army would find even the approach through the eight high, enclosing mountains intimidating.
The fall of Karak Eight Peaks
The end of the city came circa 2500 in Dwarf reckoning, when the volcanoes of the south exploded, belching great ash clouds that blotted out the sun, causing the crops that fed the city to die. The Dwarfs throughout the surrounding area retreated into the city, and suddenly the warlike Orc tribes were free to migrate into the newly-abandoned lands. The Dwarfs thought they were secure in the fortress city, but in reality they had just isolated themselves. The city was attacked from the tunnels below the city by Orcs, Goblins, and their allies in the attack, the Skaven. Taken by surprise, the Dwarfs fought a rear-guard defense in the tunnels and caves. The Dwarfs could only defend themselves from the onslaught, and gradually lost more and more ground in the defence.

The Skaven brought up warpstone from the hidden depths, or perhaps they had found it in the ash spewed from the volcanoes, but somehow it entered the wells and subterranean rivers feeding the city's water supplies, and terribly polluted them.

The Dwarfs finally abandoned the city, after sealing up the sacred shrines and whatever treasures they could not take with them.

Several Goblin tribes established their strongholds in the city, where they warred among themselves, while in the caverns bred hideous creatures warped by the corrupted water.
Today
Several expeditions have made to retake the city or recover some of its relics, and thanks to the fame of the city and its riches some were even humans from the Old World. Most of these adventurers never returned.

The most recent attempt was made by Belegar who lead the descendants of the clans that once ruled the city. Belegar and his Dwarfs have gained a foothold in the city, the Dwarfs largely confined to the surface and upper levels of the city and grimly hold on, despite being under a near-continuous siege. Slowly they find and seal off the tunnels which the Goblins and Skaven used to breach the city, as well as walling off areas too poisoned by Chaos to be reclaimed. It was visited by the adventurers Gotrek & Felix, and it was in the tunnels beneath the hold that Felix came into possession of his magical sword Karaghul.

Sylvania is an extremely poor backwater of Stirland, being the homeland of the ancient Fennones 1a.

In former times it was a semi-independent province ruled by the Counts of Sylvania. The marriage of Isabella von Drak to Vlad von Carstein led to the Wars of the Vampire Counts, in which three successive Vampire Counts tried and failed to conquer The Empire.

The last count, Mannfred von Carstein, was slain by Martin, the Elector Count of Stirland, and Sylvania was annexed by Stirland.

Sylvania is currently unofficially ruled by the recently resurrected Mannfred von Carstein.
Snotlings are the smallest of the greenskin species and make up a small part of the Orc and Goblin army list.

They have little intellect and are known for completely stupid actions, a childish sense of humor, complete missing of personal hygiene and suicidial bravery. They tend to apear in Swarms, make use of various higly toxic mushrooms and sometimes create Snotling Pump Wagons.

Savage Orcs are by far the most primitive breed of Orc. While most of the goblinoid races have an appreciation of technology for its military applications, Savage Orcs have a primal, neolithic society, and shun these advances. Savage Orcs do not wear any armour and use weapons made of wood, stone, and bone. They also daub crude warpaint upon themselves, firmly believing these wards to protect them from harm, and in battle fighting as berserkers with little regard to their own safety. This firm belief somehow generates a magical protection which indeed protects them somewhat. To the Savage Orcs, this proves the superiority of their ways over the Orcs who have embraced technology.

Interestingly, the Savage Orcs possess another combat innovation unique to them: the Big Stabba. This giant spear is rammed on the charge into the enemy ranks or smashed into the hostile monsters, being deadly to both.1

Savage Orcs tribes inhabit the most remote areas of the world: large forests and especially the deep jungles of the Southlands. Some live on the great plains, following the mighty herds of boars and other animals. In the Southlands, the powerful sunlight and heat has strangely affected the already brutish brains of the Orcs, making the Savage Orcs single-mindedly savage and brutal.

Many centuries ago all Orcs were similar to the Savage Orcs, but it is said that it was the Chaos Dwarfs who taught the Orcs the knowledge of metalworking. Some tribes either were too remote to gain from the knowledge, or intentionally disregarded these new ways. Since then the Savage Orcs and the more advanced Orc tribes have become entirely distinct.

The Bloody Spear are a Night Goblin tribe that control both ends of the Old Dwarf Silver Road that leads from the Badlands to the Dark Lands. This proves to be a very strategic position, as this gives them the ability to ambush Dwarf caravans, specifically those that have already been weakened by attacks of the White Orcs Tribe.

History of the Tribe
In the year -1457 IC the Bloody Spear manage to claim Mount Gunbad from the Dwarfs, but have to defend it against attacks from the neighbouring Red Face Tribe. They still managed to keep the mountain during the Silver Road Wars against the Dwarfs in the year-1387 IC, when they gave the dwarf caravans a hard time seeing as only 80 percent of them survived the journey. Mount Gunbad was temporarily reclaimed by the Dwarfs in the year -1245, but was soon taken again by the Goblins.
An Orc Warboss is an exceptionaly large and brutal Orc who has managed to form a Waaagh! of his own by gathering a large number of Greenskins to his banner, and subsequently leading them against his chosen foe.

Greenskins is a common collective description for the forces of the Orcs and Goblins and other biologically related races. The broadest division is between the Orcs, who are strong, brutish, and savage warriors, and the Goblins, who are smaller and weaker, but cunning and full of guile.

These two related races are divided in countless barbaric tribes who fight each other nearly all the time. They only stop fighting each other to fight another foe instead, like the kingdoms of men or the realms of Dwarfs. On these rare occasions they often vanquish and destroy whole armies, plunder and burn villages, ravage the countryside, and sack, raze, or conquer large cities and fortresses.

Origins
The Orcs arrived in the world at some unknown point in pre-history. The most likely explanations are that their insidious spores were either mistakenly introduced to the world by the starships of the Old Ones, or that they drifted through space and arrived in the world by their own means. Ever since, the greenskins have spread to become an ever present and belligerent enemy of the other races.

A closer look
A closer look will reveal that these two large races contain several subgroups. Most of these distinctions are of cultural nature.

;Orcs

*Tribes of 'common' Orcs are the majority. They know how to forge crude but efficient weapons of iron and steel and mail armour. This knowledge was taught to them by the Chaos Dwarfs. Their preferred weapon is a Choppa, a large and crude but also very dangerous weapon.
*Tribes of Savage Orcs tend to live either in deep forests or in the jungles of the deep south. They look down upon the use of armour and use mostly weapons made of rock, wood, and bone. They firmly believe in their magical tattoos which indeed protect them somewhat. Other Orcs find this quite intriguing.
*Tribes of Black Orcs are quite rare in the Old World, being much more numerous in the Dark Lands. Black Orcs are larger, stronger, and much better fighters than average Orcs. Orcs also tend to lack in discipline but Black Orcs excel in this chapter, making them very dangerous foes indeed. Ambitious Black Orcs may become leaders of tribes composed of other Orcs by crushing all opposition.

;Goblins

*Goblins
*Forest Goblins live in large forests.
*Night Goblins are a subterranean breed adapted to living in darkness.
*Gnoblars are a breed of Goblins who decided to live under the tyranny of Ogres. They are rather content with their lot.

;Other greenskins

*Hobgoblins are a nomadic eastern Greenskin race whose territory is the steppes of the Dark Lands.
*Snotlings are even smaller than Goblins and are present in all tribes. They are largely treated as pets and sometimes eaten by their larger relatives.

Society
Orcs and Goblins live in countless barbaric tribes. There are some tribes which include only Goblins or only Orcs, but the majority include both. In these mixed tribes the Orcs will always dominate the smaller and weaker Goblins. Goblin tribes don't have any Orcs at all, as any self-respecting Orc will quickly become the tribe's Boss.

Almost all Orcs are huge, brutal creatures. On average they stand taller than a man, and are stronger and tougher. They are vicious and brutal, with an abundance of brute force and very little brain power. An Orc loves nothing more than a good fight, even against other Orcs.

Goblins are a lot smaller and weaker than Orcs. However they are quite cunning and smart, and love nothing more than to trick and trade with their slow-witted relatives. On the whole they are a rather cowardly lot, and prefer to attack with a huge advantage of numbers and, if possible, from a safe distance. As a result they are average archers but rather poor fighters.

The leadership of the tribe nearly always belongs to the largest and strongest individual who will impose his rule by any mean necessary. Rivals are defeated in savage fights and most fights are not meant to be fair at all.

If an Orc Boss is weakened or wounded his rule will quickly be challenged by an ambitious Big 'Un. The Big 'Un's are elite warriors and are his lieutenants. They usually lead smaller warbands or form their own elite warband and a wise Boss will always watch his Big Un's closely.

Nearly all tribes also have shamans; gifted individuals who are able to employ Waaagh! magic. There are Orc Shamans and Goblin Shamans; only the Black Orcs don't have shamans. The shamans are always regarded with respect and fear. Most of them are quite content to be feared advisors of the tribal leader, second only to the Boss himself, while some rare ambitious shamans manage to usurp this position.

Waaagh! magic
Waaagh! magic, unlike all other forms, does not come from the Winds of Magic. Rather it seems to originate from the Greenskins themselves and then channelled by shamans. Its potency increases as the Orcs and Goblins get excited, especially during a battle. In extreme cases a shaman will be unable to contain it and his brain will, quite literally, explode.

Orc and Goblin forces
The Orc and Goblin army list is made up of a wide variety of species, including, as the name suggests, Orcs and Goblins, as well as Trolls, Giants, Snotlings and various pieces of basic artillery.

Trolls and Giants often appear in large Greenskin armies, as even the dimmest Orc realises the value of something "'Uge and 'itty'".
