Anlec was the capital of the realm of Nagarythe. The city was founded by order of Aenarion who, together with his second wife Morathi, established his court there. Together they raised their son Malekith here.

The court was a savage place where prisoners where tortured and hunted for sport, reflecting Aenarion's fall from grace after the death of his first wife, Astarielle. The city was rebuilt several times by invading Dark Elves to serve as a base of operatins, only to be besieged and destroyed each time by the High Elves.

History

At the end of the Elven civil war, the city, together with much of Ulthuan, was destroyed by the Sundering, a magical backlash which produced gigantic tsunamis.

In -1599 IC, two Black Arks, the Citadel of Damination and Jade Palace of Pain are grounded in the Shadowlands to provide a new fortress beachead of Anlec. Over the next hundred years, many attacks on Ulthuan]] are launched from this base. [1a]

The High Elves annihilate the fortress in -696, destroying even the very stones it is constructed from. [1a]

A new citadel is completed in 1131 leading to a 13 year long siege of the Griffon Gate. General Mentheus attacks Anlec and his slain but his enraged Dragon Nightfang devestates and defeats the Dark Elf army. [1a]
