Balial

Balial was a Dark Elf assassin, spy and pit fighter in service to Malekith during the Witch King's invasion of Ulthuan.[1a]

Far more intelligent than he appeared, Balial was also loyal, an unusual trait in a Dark Elf and had an inherent talent to make friends with other elves. [1a]

Appearance

A huge and powerfully built elf able to wrestle bulls and break the neck of a human blacksmith with a twist of his large hands. [1a]

History

He spent years as a pit fighter before attracting the attention of Malekith initially through his brutality and ferocity but proving himself able to inflitrate groups of slave gladiators for his master. [1a]

Malekith sent him, along with Vidor, Khalion and Vidor, to locate General Dorian Silverblade's wayward force and capture the Everqueen, Alarielle, alive or dead. [1a]

They confronted the fugitives in the Darkwood where Amara, Vidor and Khalion were swiftly slain, leaving only Balial to face Tyrion. Having flung Sunfang at Khalion to kill him, Tyrion was shcked to discover how well defended the big elf was and barely survived by using the Moon Staff of Lileath to defend himself from repeated attacks. Finally however he retrieved his blade and the battle became more even, until Balial slipped on the corpse of Khalion and was slain with a thrust into a wound in his neck, severing his spine. [1b]

Weapons and Equipment

He favoured a double bladed great axe [1a] whilst his skin had been enchanted to be as resiliant as stone, even proving resistant to Sunfang. [1b]

Quotes

I am glad you killed them. Now all the glory will be mine.

~ Balial to Tyrion. [1b]
