The Battle of Usirian's Obelisk was a conflict between the Skaven and the Tomb Kings. [1a]
History
The founder and first king of Numas created a imposing stone obelisk to Usirian which he hoped would appease the vengeful god of the underworld and gain his protection to the flourishing new city. [1a]
Millenia later, a ambitious Skaven Warlord, Stabitt Lashtail was investigate rumours of an ancient Nehekharan obelisk on a locus of great power. His spies told him that the monument had been unknowingly built above a incredibly rich source of warpstone. He managed to secure permission (and more importantly, funding) from the Council of Thirteen to topple the monument and claim the warpstone. Stabitt emerged from the tunnels of the Underempire leading a small army and followed by a legion of slaves. hoping to make off with as much of the buried warpstone before their intrusion could be discovered. [1a]
Whether Usirian had blessed Numas and intervened to warn the city’s Liche Priests to rally to the monument’s defence, is not clear but a terrible battle took place at the site of Usirian’s Obelisk. Stabitt led a pack of Rat Ogres to the foot of the obelisk, hoping to tap in to the power of the warpstone to enhance his arcane weapon and drive off the Undead. But he was confronted by King Rhamotep who personally challenged Stabitt to a duel. [1a]
No Skaven ever returned to Skavenblight to report to the Council of Thirteen who remain unsure if Stabitt was killed, or if his plan suceeded and he made off with the warpstone. [1a]
