The Battle of the Jaws was fought between the Dwarfs of Karaz-a-Karak and the Greenskins [1a] at the western end of Mad Dog Pass. [2a]
History
In an attempt to break the deadlock at Karak Eight Peaks, King Belegar had requested further aid from his kinsmen in Karaz-a-Karak. His oldest relative, Lord Duregar raised an army, marching southwards to the hold. He decided that rather from entering the Karak from the west, his force would cross the Worlds Edge Mountains and enter from the east, which was thought to be more lightly defended entrance. Regardless Skarsnik heard of their arrival and sent a force of Orcs & Goblins to assail them at Mad Dog Pass. [2a][3b][4a]
Battle
Upon reaching the notoriously dangerous pass, greenskins attacked the Dwarf force from the rear. The natural stubborness of the Dawi allowed them to resist until their Cannons were ready to fire. Battle was soon over and Lord Duregar celebrated with his troops. [3b][4a]
During the battle, Gorfang Rotgut lost his eye. [1a]
Aftermath
The Dwarf force continued their journey. The amount of slain greenskins was only a fraction of the total troops of Skarsnik. The Night Goblin soon presented his true attack: the Battle of the East Gate.[3b]
