Bhagar was a small city of Nehekhara [1b] ruled by merchant princes. [1c]

History

A small and relatively poor city, it had never been troubled by bandits or the kings of other cities and so never constructed a defensive wall, relying instead on its famed cavalry. [1e]

In the 62nd year of Qu'aph the Cunning (-1750 IC), [1a] they pledged their forces to Akhmen-hotep in his war against Nagash. [1b] They sent 4000 horse archers, all the warriors they could send, arriving in time to assist against Arkhan the Black's heavy cavalry [1c] but the allies were defeated by the dark sorcery Nagash unleashed. [1d]

As they retreated, the horsemen of Bhagar carried out a effective campaign to harry the enemy, ambushing them on many occasions and dismembering and burning those that were undead. [1d] In response, Arkhan led his forces against the city but despite pushing his warriors, living and dead relentlessly still found himself confronted by most of their remaining cavalry, some 3000 in total. [1e]

The battle was brutal but eventually the riders began to fall and the hierophant of Khsar himself was slain. When these men rose again to fight their kinfolk, Prince Shahid surrendered, offering any price to ensure the survival of his people. [1f] The people of the city were rounded up and enslaved, then Arkhan sacrificed the horses, the Prince and his chieftains and their families, sacrificing them in a ritual that sent their souls to the Black Pyramid of Nagash. [1g] Many refugees from the city fled to Ka-Sabar. [1h]

The remaining people were enlsaved to build a great tower for Arkhan and three years later all were dead but still labouring to complete their task. [1i]

Horses

Said to be a gift from Khsar himself, these desert horses were a special breed, prized above all else by their riders. [1d]
