Chameleoleech
Chameleoleech are strangely coloured Giant Leeches with the ability to create beguiling hallucinations. [1a]
Like all leeches, they are blood drinkers, hunting along the banks of rivers, keeping their sensitive skin moist. They lack eyes, using other organs to detect heat and motion and hence locate their prey. When the target is enraptured by the illusions, they bite - a painless process which normally the beguiled prey does not notice as they begin to feed. Whilst a human could survive a single feeding, they hunt in packs of up to a dozen, which can easily make for a ‘pleasant’ death! [1a]
Spit
Glands from Chameleoleeches can be harvested and are used to create the powerful hallucinogenic drug known on the streets of Altdorf as Spit. Wealthy folk can also visit the Zoo during one of their bi-annual Strange Dreams exhibitions where guests are exposed to air pumped and filtered from sealed Chameleoleech tanks. [1a]
