The Northern Wastes

The Chaos Wastes are two great wastelands which surround the north and south poles of the Warhammer world. Their creation stemmed from the collapse of the Polar Warp Gates.

Northern Wastes

The Northern Wastes surround the north pole. This is a frozen land covered with ice in the far north which gradually gives way to tundra and large plains. Numerous savage and barbaric human tribes live here, always fighting against each other and against the beastmen tribes. The largest of these tribes are the Kurgan and the Hung and all of them worship the Chaos gods. On occasion the tribes are united by a powerful warlord who then invades the civilized nations located further south. Almost all notable Chaos invasions began in the northern wastes.

Southern Wastes

Surrounding the south pole are the Southern Wastes. Containing one of the highest concentrations [1] of Beastmen in the whole world, this continent is thankfully separated from all others by water.
