The Elector Count of Talabecland is the ruler of Talabecland, a province of The Empire. This noble title is usually passed on in a hereditary fashion.

Being of the 15 Electors the counts of Talabecland cast one of the votes in the election of a new emperor. Being Elector Counts makes them one of the major candidates.

They harbour an ancient reciprocal feud with the Elector Counts of Stirland. It seems to have begun in 1359 IC as Ottilia, Elector Countess of Talabecland, refused to acknowledge the election of the Count of Stirland. She accused him of bribery and declared the whole election a sham. Supported by many, she self-proclaimed herself Empress Ottilia I.

This act started the Age of Three Emperors, a centuries-long civil war during which the Elector Counts of Talabecland were also Ottilian Emperors, leaders of a major faction. They relinquished their claim to the throne upon the election of Magnus the Pious in 2304 IC [1].

Their residence is the city-state of Talabheim, Talabecland's capital.

The current Elector Count of Talabecland is Helmut Feuerbach; he disappeared recently [2].

Notes & sources

  • It's possible, but very unlikely, that there was only a single ruler (a single Ottilia) during the whole Wars of the Vampire Counts. However that would mean that she ruled over 90 years, was still fit to travel, and a worthwhile target for assassination; an extremely unlikely possibility.
  • It's unknown if the eldest child, regardless of gender, was the heir-apparent (an equal primogeniture). It's possible that the eldest daughter could rule only if she had no brother at all. Read the respective article of Wikipedia
