Griffon Gate
The Griffon Gate is one of the five great fortresses that guard the Inner Kingdoms of Ulthuan. [1a]
It has a standing garrison of some of the finest warriors of the realm, with service at the fortress being considered a great honour, although few survive thanks to the many dangers. [1a]
The Griffon Gate is the only one of the five that has Shadow Warriors as part of its garrison. [1a]
History
It is the oldest of the fortreses built during the reign of Caledor I to safeguard the realm from the ravages of the Dark Elves and was completed [1a] in -2599 IC. [2a]
In -946 IC, A Dark Elf counter offensive from Anlec is defeated by a well prepared trap as it reaches the gate. [2a]
A vast, imposing statue of its namesake is completed in 606 IC as a memorial to the elven dead and to stirke fear into enemies. [3a]
The gate is besieged from 1133-1146 IC, becoming surrounded by a ring of three fortifications, it is finally releived by General Mentheus. [2a]
