Hexwraith
Hexwraiths are spectral hunters able to shift between the realm of spirits and the mortal world. [1a]
These wraith like spirits are said to be from the deepest depths of the underworld, drawn forth on Hexensnacht to pursue evil men who have cheated their rightful fate. Able to move fast across any terrain and through most mortal defences on their ethereal steeds, they are relentless in their quest for their prey. [1a]
It is said that the vampire Necrarchs were the first to learn how to summon and command them, perhaps using the Book of Arkhan, other stories contend that Melkhior himself first mastered them. By the early 2500's (Imperial Calendar), the vampires of Sylvania had added them to their already formidable arsenal. [1a]
Notable
- The Spectres of Corpse Wood: Angered by Halflings plundering his southern border, Otto von Drak ordered mounted border patrols to catch and punish the thieves. When they failed he had an entire company of riders buried alive in Corpse Wood. They would later arise as Hexwraiths. [2a]
Weapons and Equipment
Hexwraiths are armed with Soul Reapers, deadly scythes that can pass through dragon scales or gromril armour without pause, snatching away the soul of the mortal or creature that it failed to protect. [1a]
