Island of Blood

History
Before the Old Ones came to the world, an unknown race creates a temple on the island, at the heart of which was a rent in the very fabric of space and time itself. [1c]
As the majority of the High Elf army continued to fight against Chaos on Ulthuan itself, Aenarion’s bodyguard were sent to the island now known as the Island of Blood. As he prepared to create the Great Vortex, Caledor realised that there was a fatal flaw in the great spell whose origin could be found on the island. The elite brotherhood of knights were able to close the portal by pouring their own life forces into a powerful magical talisman, the Phoenix Stone, swearing to protect it for all eternity. [1c]
After the Vortex had formed, the High Elves returned and erected twelve great magical statues, one for each of the brotherhood of knights that had so selflessly sacrificed themselves, and left a small garrison at the ancient temple to protect the Phoenix Stone. [1c]
The Skaven Warlord Skreet Verminkin bypassed the natural defences and magical wards by tunnelling under the seabed using slave labour. Although there were many floods and collapses, he only lost a few overseers and thousands of (expendable) slves. [1a]
