Khalidaart1.jpg

High Queen Khalida Neferher, Beloved of Asaph, the Warrior-Queen of Lybaras, was a well loved and respected figure across Nehekhara and is now a Tomb Queen. [1a][2a]

She was intelligent, patient, brave, beautiful and had a strong sense of justice and honour. [1b][2a]

When needed, Khalida's body is infused with the will of Asaph and she rises to lead her army of archers, who were buried in tombs next to her, against her enemies. [1a] Her flesh returns to its original beauty, resembling pristine pale marble, her body filled with the divine energy of her patron goddess. [2a]

Appearance

As a warrior queen she rode in full iron armour, her hair bound in tight braids. [3d] By -1597 IC she had sword scars on her hands and a red-inked Rasetran warrior tattoo on the right hand side of her neck. [3e]

Blessing of the Asp

She can infuse the arrows of her warriors with poison [2a] and as the incarnation of the goddess, no poison can effect her. [1b]

History

Born in -1665 IC, Khalida was the daughter of Lord Wakhashem and Semunet, Neferata's aunt but both her parents died when she was young. She returned to Lahmia where she quickly became passionate about archery, horses and swordplay, braiding her hair like the legendary Numasi horse maidens. [3a]

Khalida was later married to King Anhur and became Queen of Lybaras. [3b] Queen Neferata attempted to continue their former friendship but Khalida was suspicious of her long life and vitality, making excuses not to travel to Lahmia. [1b][2a] [3c]

As queen, she established herself as a formidable warrior and led expeditions to destroy large bands of raiders. In -1597 IC when Neferata claimed the throne after the death of her husband, she travelled with her own husband and a formidable force of soldiers to greet her. [3d]

In -1520 IC[1b] Neferata falsely accused Khalida of treason at a banquet with the intention of assassinating her. Khalida rose to defend her own honour rather than choosing a champion, stunning the noble onlookers. Both Khalida and Neferata were skilled warriors but Khalida could not hope to defeat Neferata in her vampiric state. Eventually, to the horror of the guests, Khalida was struck down by Neferata and Neferata bit her own tongue and let the blood fall down Khalida's throat to turn her into a vampire.[1b]

Knowing her fate, Khalida cried out to the gods to save her. Asaph, the asp goddess, heard her cries and cleansed Khalida's body of the vampiric taint but also drained the remainder of her life. Her body was brought back to Lybaras and was interred in a specially made reliquary in a seated position. [1b][2a]

It was not until -1170 IC [1a] that the vampiric taint was discovered in Lahmia, whereupon Alcadizaar and his allies destroyed the city and force the vampires to flee north to Nagash.[1b]

Due to the betrayal of Neferata, Khalida has a burning loathing for Vampires and will not rest in peace until the last vampire is slain. [1b]

In 2150 IC, Khalida rose from her slumber to deal with Mannfred von Carstein who had entered Lahmia in search of a relic. She wounds him in the subsequent battle, forcing him to flee. [1a]

She forms a brief alliance with Arkhan the Black in 2350 IC and they travel to Sylvania to recover the Staff of Nagash from the vampire Mandregan who Khalida smites. [1a]

Weapons and Equipment

Preserved with many ugents and sacred oils her body is flammable whilst all of her weapons, natural talons included are infused with poison. Her wounds are quickly healed so she becomes increasingly statue-like.[2a]
