Knight Errant
Knights Errant are sons of nobles, whether rich or poor, who join battle for glory and to gain honour and recognition. They are wealthy enough to own a horse as well as equipment, usually a lance, a sword, a shield, as well as a suit of chainmail or some armour of similar worth. Unlike Knights of the Realm however, they own no land, and do not swear direct allegiance to any Baron or Earl.
On the battlefield, they tend to be rather impetuous and arrogant, eager to prove their worth to their superiors so that they might one day earn the title of knight, as well as a piece of land and peasants to work it.
