Light Magic, known as Hysh is one of the Winds of Magic, taught to the humans of the Empire by the elven archmage Teclis. It is predominantly practised among the sanctioned wizards of the Empire.

Hysh

Hysh is the Aethyr's embodiment of the abstract of consciousness and illumination in the literal and metaphorical meaning of the word. It is a magic of philosophical truth and wisdom, rather than the more academic and fact-based Gold wind of Chamon. Hierophants, as the magisters of Hysh are known, are therefore often seen in the role of philosophers and valued advisors.

On the battlefield, Hierophants are particularly effective against the forces of Chaos, their light even being able to banish demons, and their illuminating magic able to cure chaos-spawned insanity and fear of the hearts of the mighty champions of the Empire.

The College of Light at Altdorf is known to be a gigantic glass pyramid, illuminated by thousands of candles, also its invisible to normal, not magical gifted men. Inside it a Chaos Dragon - Baudros - was trapped since the second Great War against Chaos. Dungeons beneath the pyramid contained artifacts and tomes filled with unholy knowledge, which were taken by force during the Great War against Chaos and locked away in sealed vaults. The trice-cursed Egrimm van Horstmann was a wizard of the College of Light before he was corrupted by Tzeentch and turned to Chaos himself. He corrupted other students of the wind of Hysh befor his wrong doing became uncovered and then freed the Chaos Dragon Baudros and fled with it north to the Chaos Wastes.
