Lybaras is a city of Nehekhara.

When populated by the living, Lybaras was a city of scholars and engineers, its priest-kings and nobles known for their relatively un-ostentatious style of dress, spending their wealth on scrolls and technology. Lybarans favoured simple dun coloured kilts and sandals with a dark brown cape. [2a]

History

Lybaras has been conquered several times, primarily by Settra in his first rising, and then later by Rakhash, Rakaph II, Khetep, Alkharad and Alcadizaar.

In -1750 IC, Lybaras allied with Rasetra against Nagash. [2a] In -1744 IC Rakh-amn-hotep mustered every warrior he could as well as jungle beasts and with King Hekhmenukep and his war machines marched on Khemri. [2b]

They joined the combined forces to besiege Khemri under Lahmizzar.[1b]

Khalida of Lahmia marries King Anhur and becomes Queen of Lybaras. [3a]

Location

It is one of the furthest cities from Khemri, on the eastern side of the Worlds Edge Mountains, about 1500 miles distant. To reach it you must travel through the Charnel Valley which is dangerous enough itself.[1a]

Military

Their Ushabti were considered strange by other cities, not obviously blessed by the gods and with unusual weapons such as knives, sticks and coils of rope. [2a]

Notable

Lybaras is most famous for their long dead Queen, High Queen Khalida Neferher. This was her home and is now her resting place.

Religion

The patron diety is Tahoth, God of knowledge and learning. [2a] Due to Khalida's association with the Asp Goddess, Asaph, a huge temple was built in Lybaras honoring only Asaph.[1x]

Technology

They were the first to construct the Tomb Scorpions and Bone Giants powering them with steam, pulleys, and magic.

  • Sun-sign: They used bronze dishes to reflect sunlight and send messages. [2c]
  • Seeing-tubes: Telescopes. [2c]

Airships

  • Lybaran sky-boat: Their armies sometimes travelled by these aircraft comprising a large boat slung beneath a hot-air balloon. They were more often used for logistical support, carrying the supplies the army needed rather than rely on camels or oxen. [2a]
  • Lybaran skybox: A box a little smaller than a chariot suspended from an bladder filled with air spirits used as a observation and long range communication platform. [2c]
