Morgrim Bargrum, also called Elgidum, was a Dwarf Thane and the cousin of Snorri Lunngrin from Karaz-a-Karak. [1][4a]

He originally a miner, like his father.[1g] Later he became one of the main Dwarf generals of the War of the Beard.[4a]

Appearance

Powerfully built, even for a Dwarf he had broad shoulders, a chin like an anvil and a hefty chest and back, standing nearly half a foot higher than Snorri. [1d]

Family

He had three sisters with Snekki One-thumb being the son of his third sister. [3b]

History

Whilst exploring near the entrance of Karak Krum, Morgrim and Snorri were attacked by a large number of rats and Skaven and barely escaped with their lives, Snorri loosing several fingers. [1a] The pair made their way through deep areas of the lost hold, discovering a seem of Brynduraz‎ before they came upon a temple to Grungni. [1b]

Inside, to their great surprise they found the Runelord of their hold, Ranuld Silverthumb who was less than pleased to see them but after various insults told them he was in search of magic. Later as the roof collapsed, Ranuld trasnported them to safety, [1c] near the Rorganzbar, the northern entrance to the Ungrim Ankor to the world above the earth. [1d]

In a storm, they encountered Imladrik of Caledor on his Dragon Draukhain who offered to transport them to Karaz-a-Karak. Snorri was suspicious but Morgrim persuaded him that he would sooner be able to have beer and meat in his belly if he did so, plus Morgrim was keen to see what it would be like to ride atop a dragon. [1e]

However as Snorri was about to climb on board, the Dragon reared up, dumping Morgri to the ground as it seemed to search the surroundings and Imladrik had to use dragonsong to calm his mount. Although he appologised, Snorri challenged the Elf prince to face him on the ground if he wanted him dead. Imladrik declined expressing his regrets once more and saying he would do the same to the High King before he left them. [1f]

Morgrim faced Imladrik in a friendly duel at a subsequent Brodunk (festival) to honour Grimnir but lost after a hard fight. [1g]

War of the Beard

Snorri was slain by Phoenix King Caledor II in -1974 IC during the early battles of the War of the Beard. This enraged Morgrim.[4a] [4b]

During the long Battle of Oeragor (-1968 IC) the dwarf throng proved resistant to elven arrows. Elfs charged the dwarf shield-wall and Morgrim Bargrum fought his way to Imladrik. They dueled and in the end Morgrim cut the elf prince in two, partially avenging his cousin Snorri and earning the title Elgidum or Elfdoom. [4a][4b]

As King of Karak Izor [3b] he sent most of the Dwarf throng towards Tor Alessi but first led a vanguard against the port city of Athel Maraya (in -1498 IC). As they approached, the women and children of Athel Maraya were taken off-shore by the ships in the harbour but the defenders repulsed the initial attack on the city. After five days of siege and bombardment, the garrison sallied out to try and destroy the war engines but after a hard fight, lord Kiarell and most of his warriors were killed and the few survivors retreated to the Anarian which sailed to join the other ships. The city was sacked and destroyed. [3a][4b]

Morgrim then joined High King Gotrek Starbreaker in attacking Tor Alessi for the fourteenth time in Battle of Three Towers (-1560 IC). The elven citadel was bombarded for a hundred days before dwarf forces breached in. Morgrim and High King found Caledor II and the kings fought each other. Caledor II was defeated and High King Gotrek took his crown. The War was over.[4a][4b]

Later times

In -1162 IIC Lord Rahotep of Khemri made contact with what they called the annu-horesh (mountain-lords) and in -1163 IC he returned home with gifts from King Morgrim Blackbeard. He invited King Alcadizzar to visit and discuss how the two peoples could work together in the future. [2a]

  • Silverbolt Helm: Forged from star-rock it is inscribed with powerful Runes of protection and toughness. [3b]
