Nebunefer the Just was a Hierophant of Ptra in Nehekhara. [1b]

History

He was born in -1965 IC. [1c]

In -1950 IC he was presented to Neferem as the most gifted young man in a generation, intended to see to her spiritual needs and wait upon her. [1c]

When Khefru told Neferem that her son was dead in -1750 IC, they they plotted to kill Nagash with the Hierophants of Khemri and sent Nebunefer away to raise a resistance to him in case they failed. [1e] After Nagash struck down thousands of priests across Nehekhara, he joined the combined army of Lybaras and Rasetra with half a dozen senior priests as it marched on the Gates of the Dawn in -1750 IC. [1a]

In -1744 IC he travelled to Ka-Sabar to persuade King Akhmen-Hotep to launch a diversionary attack on Bel Aliad. [1b] He came to the aid of Rakh-amn-hotep later in the year at the Gates of the Dusk, bringing priestesses of Asaph to heal him. He also revealed that Nagash had corrupted the Covenant with the Gods by his enslavement of Neferem, cutting off the priests from the gods. [1d]

Nebunefer surived until -1740 IC in the beseiged Mahrak but noting the arrival of Lamashizzar he travelled to the camp of Nagash, demanding his surrender stating that as long as the Covenant existed, he could not win. However, Nagash saw a different truth in his words and snapped his neck before calling for Neferem. [1e]
