Neru is the Nehekharan goddess of Protection. [1a]
She is the wife of the Sun God Ptra. [1a]
Neru welcomes the dead to the garden of the afterlife, tending them with her many daughters. At night she rises up from the garden to watch over her children from the sky, followed by Sakhmet, the jealous concubine of her husband. On ocassion, Sakhmet is be able to usurp her place in the sky, staring balefully down at the children of the gods and the world below. [3a]
