Rasetra is a city of Nehekhara.

It is located in the south-eastern corner, roughly one thousand three hundred miles from Khemri and is surrounded by jungles.1

History

It was once a city established by King Khetep of Khemri as a defensive stronghold during his war with the Lizardmen of the southern junges. His son Nagash, completed the campaign when he fell ill, crushing all resistence but when his father recovered, he gave the new city to one of his generals. [3a] Khetep chose one of his ablest lieutenants Ur-Amnet to govern the new settlement [5c] and just over a decade later it was a thriving city with its own Priest-king, [3a] Ur-Amnets son Mukhtail. [5c]

At the beginning of the War against Nagash, King Rakh-amn-hotep joined with King Hekhmenukep to march their armies through the Valley of Kings, hoping to reach the Gates of the Dusk before Quatar could stop them. [3c] Nemuhareb however led his Tomb Guard to block them, initally clashing with the advance guard of light horsemen and driving them back before the Battle at the Gates of the Dawn truely began. [3c] The combination of the chariots of Rasetra and the Tomb Scorpions of Lybaras defeated their enemy and cut of from the retreating remnants, King Nemuhareb surrendered to the allied kings. [3e]

In -1744 IC Rakh-amn-hotep mustered every warrior he could as well as jungle beasts and with Hekhmenukep and his war machines marched on Khemri. [3f] Two battles were fought at the Springs of Eternal Life but after the sacred waters were defiled by Nagash, the army had to limp back to Quatar once more, the Lizardmen auxiliaries dying off once the last of the Thunder Lizards had died of thirst. [3h]

Arriving at Quatar they quickly discovered that the dead had taken the city and once more they were forced to retreat, heading for Mahrak, hoping to reach it before the army of Nagash caught them. [3i] The King himself led the rearguard and as they withdrew beyond the range of the skeletal bowmen, he took an arrow to the throat. [3j] His men carried him to the Gates of the Dusk where priestesses of Asaph healed him and Nebunefer told him that Nagash enslavement of Neferem cut off the priests from the gods. The king ordered the retreat to Mahrak. [3k]

Four years later, in -1740 IC he gathered his army in the hills south-east of Mahrak - a pale shadow of what he could once field with every man he could gather. Lybaras had done the same under Hekhmenukep and the two old allies introduced their sons to each other. [3l]

Following victory at the Siege of Mahrak, he had 1000 men searching for the body of Nagash before joing the other kings marching on Khemri. As they prepared to breach the Black Pyramid, King Amn-nasir warns him that King Lamashizzar should not be trusted. A swarm of insects flew out of sarcophagus of Nagash as it is opened, leaving it empty. [3m]

With the majority of the army destroyed by the War against Nagash, Lizardmen war parties raid their lands. Shepret, the son of Rakh-amn-hotep becomes king after his father and continues the strong alliance with Lybaras. In -1650 IC he travelled to Lahmia for the Council of Kings. [4a] Shepret was still king in -1597 IC when Neferata claimed the throne of Lahmia and he moved to greet her with gifts of amber, thunder lizard horn and herbs from the jungle. [4b]

In -1350 IC, Hathor, Queen of Rasetra travelled to Lahmia to pray for her unborn child and recieved an elixir from Neferata to ensure his health. [4c] She would stay with him for a year after the birth of Alcadizzar before returning home, dying two years later in childbirth. [5a] By -1325 IC King Aten-heru had grown increasingly frustrated that his son remained in Lahmia and began to form an alliance against the city sending Lord Khenti to demand his return so he could take up rulership of Khemri. [5b]

King Aten-heru died in -1295 IC and was succeeded by Asar, younger brother of Alcadizzar who was still training at the Temple of Blood in Lahmia. [5d]

When in -1200 IC, Alcadizzar united the cities against Lahmia, the heir of the city, Prince Heru led a force of 10,000 veteran heavy infantry and 2000 war-chariots drawn by jungle-lizards to join the Siege of Lahmia. [5e]

In -1163 IC with the news that Nagash had sent a vast invasion force to destroy Nehekhara, their army assembles with the army of Ka-Sabar and marches to its designated assembly point. [5f] They faced a vast horde at the Battle on the Lybaras Road and although defeated managed to withdraw in good order. [5g]

When King Ushtep of Rasetra and King Imanotep of Mahrak fought in a giant crater between the two cities they discovered that they were too well matched and both blamed the gods for the joyless experience. Unfortunately for them they spoke their words before a half buried Hierotitan, transporting their complaints to the gods themselves. Angered, the gods cursed the kings to wage endless war upon each other and for 3000 years they have fought, a hundred hierotitans gathered on the crater's edge to watch, the gods themselves seeing through their eyes. [2a]

Finally, Settra, in his second coming, took the city and commanded the kings back to their chambers, awaiting his call to arise.[1]

Military

In life the men of Rasetra were known for their skill and savagery in battle, from years of fending off Lizardmen raiders. Their chariots were pulled by a pair of vicious jungle lizards since -1850 IC and were first used against another city, Quatar a hundred years later at the Battle at the Gates of the Dawn. [3d]

Lizardmen

They were known to use Thunder Lizards as beasts of war in larger battles guided by skinks who also rode them on howdahs . Saurus warriors also formed regiments of auxiliaries who showed off the bloody skulls they reaped from their foes on chains. [3g]
