Shortly after the end of the line of elected Emperors in 1979 IC the Counts of Reikland advanced their own claim to the Imperial throne. Their claim was passed on in a hereditary tradition, until the coronation of Magnus the Pious in 2304 IC reinstated the line of elected Emperors.
During this chaotic period, known as the Age of Three Emperors, their main rivals were the Wolf Emperors, the Ottilian Emperors and the Elector Counts of Marienburg.
