During the 1st Edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battles, first published July 1983, Games Workshop produced two books:
- Warhammer, Rulebook 1st Edition, although called "the Mass Citadel Miniatures Fantasy Battle Game" and
- Forces of Fantasy, allthough called "a Warhammer Supplement".
The 1st Edition is called the "White Box Edition" by the hobbyists for its simple, plain white Boxes of the Regiments of Renown.
A Boxed Game of Warhammer Fantasy Battles and Army Books where unknown during the 1st Edition.
