The Troll Country is a great shadowy wasteland located north of Kislev and the Lynsk river, and south of the Chaos Wastes.

It is in fact the outermost of the realms of Chaos, the furthest part of the world touched by the Shadow of Chaos. It is a vast plain dotted with hills, dead trees and fissures. All manner of beasts, natural and unnatural, roam and kill and consume anything they can catch.

Inhabitants

The human population of the Troll Country is overwhelmingly Ungol and mostly nomadic. [2a]

Troll Country is home to many creatures of Chaos, including Chimeras, Minotaurs, Ogres, Beastmen, and as its name suggests, Trolls. These Trolls are far more dangerous than their southern kindred, and are afflicted with horrifying mutations. The natural animals that roam the land have not escaped mutation, and wolves, bears and other creatures are hunted by the beastmasters of Clan Moulder, who search for suitably vicious beasts to bring back to Hell Pit. The land also contains a large number of Greenskin tribes. Some Kislevites of the Ungol tribe also live in this region in small nomadic groups.

When the tide of Chaos rises in the times of the Chaos Incursions, the land serves as the gathering place for the armies of Chaos, before they launch their invasion across the Lynsk into Kislev.

Kislev regularly sends patrols into this region to slay as many creatures as they can in an attempt to keep the monster head count down to a manageable level. Here on such a patrol, the great Tzar Boris Ursus was killed.[1]

Locations

  • Chamon Dharek: A great grave mound, sacred to the Kurgan and strong with tainted power. It is surrounded by mummified horses and holds a vast hord of cursed treasure in gold and gems. [2a]
  • Hell Pit: Lcoated at the very northern edge of Troll Country, it is the home of the Skaven Clan Moulder.
  • Leblya: One of the largest settlements in the Troll Country, it is often designated as a mustering or fall-back point for the Kislev pulk which means that anyone raised in the Troll Country knows how to get there. The small town is built around an old Scythian mound. [2a]
  • Zamak Spayenya: A once sacred great white rock, a league or more across with a flat top, rising from the steppe. Its sides are very steep, making it a useful temporary redoubt ofr local Ungol Tribesmen. [2a]
