Blood Bowl Magic Items are used by teams in Blood Bowl to gain an edge over their opponents. [1a]

History

Initially wizards were not pleased by the constant demands by teams to supply them with magical items and merely supplied them with a few minor pieces to appease the coaches. However the NAF quickly decided that the use of magical artefacts was against the rules and banned them from the game. [1a]

In response some sorcerers continued to experiment with suitable magical devices, seeking to disguise them so they could be sneaked onto the field without the Refs noticing. Finally, a group managed to imbue a old running shoe with the same amount of magical energy as a wand - if they ran around screaming magical couplets and waved it around! [1a]

Once they overcame these teething problems, wizards began to produce many more magical artefacts that coud not easily be distinguished from a mundane item. Referees are always on the look out for players trying to smuggle lethal weapons onto the pitch so a apparently innocous headband can often sneak through the process. [1a]

In 2483 IC, Gragath Sanson of the Chaos All Stars managed to reach the pictch with eight magical items but never left. Flying down the pitch, he was struck by a volley of lightning bolts from a spellcaster employed by the Elfheim Eagles which resulted in a series of explosions which transformed or killed a number of spectators and cheerleaders. The body of the player slipped beneath the pitch as he was rendered insubstantial by his magical jacket. [1c]
