Champion of the Everqueen
The Champion of the Everqueen is the companion and bodyguard of the High Elf Everqueen. [1a]
The position is open to all, both male and female elves, regardless of station or wealth, however the contender must also be skilled in courtliness, poetry, music and dancing as well as in combat so it often went to the wealthy. [1d]

History
The role was created by the second Phoenix King, Bel Shanaar after Astarielle the first Everqueen had been slain by the followers of Chaos. [1a]
In 2273 IC, Tyrion was convinced by his aunt, the head of House Emeraldsea to compete for the position, despite his resevations as she hoped he could both protect the new queen but also influence her in favour of his house. [1b]

Tournament
A tournament is held to choose a champion for a new Everqueen [1a] with the victor called upon to defend her against all threats even if it costs them their life. [1d] Following the days events, the participants gather in the palace sized Pavilion of the Everqueen - a vast construction of spiralborne thread and spider-silk.[1g]
- First Round: Each particpant proves themselves with sword and shield, winning the leaf shaped bronze amulet given to each contender, the victor returns their opponents broach to the heralds until only one participant and broach is left. [1e]
