Cult of Asaph
The Cult of Asaph is the organised worship of the goddess Asaph. [1a]
Priestesses of the cult wear master crafted gold masks that capture the essence of the goddess and a necklace of black asps to confirm her devotion to Asaph and guard her virtue. [1a]
History
In -1744 IC four priestesses gave part of their soul to heal Rakh-amn-hotep, as they had been cut of from the goddess by Nagash's corruption of the Covenant with the Gods. [1a]
Lahmian Cult
After the death of King Lamashizzar in -1597 IC, orphans were raised as priestesses in the new temple to Asaph in ancient Lahmia and trained to serve Neferata as the living avatar of the goddess. They wore golden masks of the goddess, modelled on the queens face and robes of samite. Each initiate surrendered a small portion of blood every night which Neferata ritually drank three times a day, the priestess presenting it withe words: For you, holy one. An offer of love, and life eternal. A great temple had been converted from the women's palace and contained an arcane laboratory that held the books of Nagash, secured by locks only Neferata and W'soran could open. [2a]
They used a version of the Elixir of Life which they called the Asaph's Kiss. [3a]
Sacred Number
