Imperial Calendar

The Imperial Calendar ("IC), sometimes called the Sigmarite Calendar, seems to be the most popular and prevalent calendar of the Old World.

The Imperial Calendar is used by the Empire and by the Wasteland, a former Imperial realm. Other civilized nations have their own calendars, but seem to acknowledge and use the Imperial Calendar on occasion. It is likely that this knowledge came through commercial exchanges with these lands.

Dating

Year 0 by the calendar's reckoning was the coronation of Sigmar, as the first emperor. Events which happened before then are denoted by "-" (e.g., the rise of Nagash in Nehekhara occurred roughly in -1750 IC).[1]

Days

The world takes 400 days to travel around its sun. The eight days of the Imperial week are named as below, but the reasons for each specfic name are mostly forgotten. [2]

  • Wellentag = Workday.[2]
  • Aubentag = Levyday.[2]
  • Marktag = Marketday.[2]
  • Backertag = Bakeday.[2]
  • Bezahltag = Taxday.[2]
  • Konigstag = Kingday.[2]
  • Angestag = Startweek.[2]
  • Festag = Holiday.[2]

Months

The Imperial Calendar divides the year into 12 months of either 32 or 33 days and 6 additional days which fall between them and are not numbered, four of which are major festivals.[2]

  • Nachexen = After Witching.[2]
  • Jahrdrung = Year-Turn.[2]
  • Pfugzeit = Ploughtide.[2]
  • Sigmarzeit = Sigmart-tide.[2]
  • Sommerzeit = Summertide.[2]
  • Vorgeheim = Fore-Mystery.[2]
  • Nachgeheim = After-Mystery.[2]
  • Erntzeit = Harvest-tide.[2]
  • Brauzeit = Brewmonth.[2]
  • Chillmonth = Kaldezeit.[2]
  • Ulric-tide = Ulriczeit.[2]
  • Fore-witching = Vorhexen.[2]
