From Warhammer - The Old World - Lexicanum
Jump to: navigation, search

This is a forum to discuss updates and edits to the Lexicanum. These forums are a temporary measure and will be transferred to a new system when we can.

All rules from the Lexicanum still apply here:

  • You can make your own section, but check first if there is already one about it.
  • You can discuss lore, but only in the context of an edit. Outside of it use the Lexicanum Discord server for that purpose. Link here.
  • Don't be hostile or rude to other editors.
  • Don't post links to illegal content.

FB/AoS Split

Some of you may want to know what's the state of the AoS split. It's still going to happen, but we need to wait a couple weeks as the BoLS network is changing to a new, modern hosting platform, which will hopefully be followed by the split. Further details on this and other updates to the Lexicanum can be found here. Feel free to discuss here anything about the split or the preparations we are doing for the split.--Ashendant (talk) 13:46, 16 November 2019 (MST)

Update on the Forums: The Move should be done by the end of November which should be followed by the updates to the Lexicanum.--Ashendant (talk) 08:16, 18 November 2019 (MST)
Another Update: Move will happen tomorrow. It is likely there will be a downtime of a few minutes. The updates will be next.--Ashendant (talk) 06:15, 25 November 2019 (MST)
If you spot any issues then make a comment here and I'll direct it to the appropriate people.--Ashendant (talk) 13:00, 25 November 2019 (MST)
Update: The French, German of both Warhammer Lexicanum and the Warmachine Lexi have been moved to the new server. The English Versions of the Warhammer Lexis have been delayed to the weekend. The update should follow soon after and should be completely done within 1-2 weeks.--Ashendant (talk) 07:40, 26 November 2019 (MST)
Update: The move is done. The updates and the split should come in the next few days.--Ashendant (talk) 20:10, 4 December 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the update - do we need to sign in seperatly to edit each version? --Viktor (talk) 23:16, 4 December 2019 (UTC)
Once it happens it will be an entirely different wiki, like the 40K version or the German version, so the answer is yes.--Ashendant (talk) 00:22, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

The Split has officially happened! Soon I'll start to clean the wikis of irrelevant content. Please continue to do edits on FB on this wiki and edits of AoS content on the other wiki found here:

Warhammer the Old World Mk 2

I see the Old Wolrd is coming back in a couple of years according to Warhammer Community! --Viktor (talk) 02:57, 17 November 2019 (MST)

Yes I'm aware and I'm not entirely happy with this. After the split it's likely that whfb.lexicanum will be renamed to wholdworld.lexicanum.--Ashendant (talk) 05:35, 17 November 2019 (MST)
Or we will need THREE different Fantasy Lexicanums now. OMG -_- ---Darkelf77 (talk) 14:28, 17 November 2019 (MST)
No just two. The Old World is further developments in the World-That-Was/Fantasy Battles setting. It will be the Horus Heresy of Age of Sigmar.--Ashendant (talk) 15:38, 17 November 2019 (MST)
We can only hope that it would be so. GW can do anything...--Darkelf77 (talk) 12:20, 18 November 2019 (MST)
WFRP 4th Ed is also still going as is the computer games so there is plenty of stuff for the "Old World" even without this --Viktor (talk) 15:46, 17 November 2019 (MST)
The issue with video games is that they are a bit more flexible lore-wise. Through I guess things like Vampire Coast has no problems, since it only develops old lore.--Ashendant (talk) 16:53, 17 November 2019 (MST)
Not including Warhammer Bloodbowl world there are several Warhammer universes where the lore conflicts to a greater or smaller degree when you include all the WFRP versions, the WFB and End times and the vid games. --Viktor (talk) 12:34, 18 November 2019 (MST)
Well Blood Bowl is the only one specifically stated to be an Alternate Universe. I assume some game are low level canon(like quest and mordheim) while other have to atleast outright happen in alternate timelines(Like Total War).--Ashendant (talk) 13:41, 18 November 2019 (MST)

2019-12-06 - The AoS and FB wiki are officially split. Please read the rules to avoid any issues. 2019-12-16 - Mostly done with this wiki. There are a few stragglers and some tasks to be done, but they are not important enough they can't do later.

Rules for the split: (For now you don't need to tell us, as the cleaning work as yet to start)

  • If you see an article or image that's not on the right Lexi, tell the mods to import it below. Don't try to copy paste it yourself. If you do this the mods will have to delete your transfer and then import it themselves.
  • If you see an article or image that's in both wikis, when it should be only one, don't blank the page. Add a {{Delete}} tag on it and tell the mods to delete it below.
  • If you see an article in either Lexi with a name that's not longer usable due to the split, for example with the article name containing "of the mortal realms", "of the World-That-Was" "(age of sigmar faction)" Tell the mods below.
    • This rule does not apply if you've just created the article and nobody else but you made edits on it.

The Old World

  • Delete AoS content.
    • Articles.
    • Files.
    • Category.
  • Move the following Article and File:
    • Remove FB from File names.
    • Remove "of the World-That-Was" from Article and Category names.
    • Remove Fantasy Battles from categories.(Miniatures are excepted)
  • Improvements
    • Add more topics to the Main Page.

Hey everyone! The split has finally happened and we now have a wiki for AoS and a wiki for FB. Soon I will start cleaning the wikis by deleting articles. I still have to discuss some other stuff with the other admins before I truly start to work on it. I will start to do the FB wiki stuff since it's far easier to clean than the reverse(Because AoS categories are well-organized). As you can see in the To-Do list above we have plenty of stuff to do. Good luck everyone!--Ashendant (talk) 16:06, 6 December 2019 (UTC)

Working 6 day weeks at the moment but will try and join in - can we add a link to the relevant Publications and Characters pages on the Old World site please? --Viktor (talk) 19:14, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
Not sure on what do you mean.--Ashendant (talk) 19:16, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
On the Old World Lex front page we just have races but on the AOS one we have publications, characters etc :) --Viktor (talk) 22:13, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
Ah I see what you mean. I'll add it to the To-Do list here, but will be done after i'm done with most of the cleaning.--Ashendant (talk) 22:38, 6 December 2019 (UTC)

Started deleting some articles... All location articles from AoS should be gone. This is going to take a while.--Ashendant (talk) 04:19, 8 December 2019 (UTC)

All deletions should be done, through there should be a few stragglers here and there. If you find any add the {{Delete}} tag in it. What I need to do now is to clean the stragglers and lists, clean the special tools, edit the categories page, and then move everything to the right categories.--Ashendant (talk) 14:21, 12 December 2019 (UTC)

I could use some hands to change the following categories.

^ List Moved to the To-Do List Above^

I will be working on other stuff here so it would be great if any of you guys could get this done before I finish it.--Ashendant (talk) 00:28, 15 December 2019 (UTC)

I don't think I can change Page names - or did you mean for me to do something else? I think you mean change those within the category?--Viktor (talk) 11:38, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
You're doing exactly what I wanted. While you're doing this part I'll be changing the names that normal editors can't do. Afterwards I need to do a final check-up and the FB wiki should be done.--Ashendant (talk) 14:20, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
Not sure What category do "groups" belong to? --Viktor (talk) 14:42, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
Background. Also it's easier if you use <s></s> to mark that you're done.--Ashendant (talk) 16:01, 15 December 2019 (UTC)

Mostly Done

The FB Lexi is now mostly done. There are a few stragglers and minuta to be done, like the category move tasks mentioned above, but they are not important enough they can't be done later. After 10 days of working on this I'm also mentally exhausted with doing edits on the FB Lexi, so I'll give it a quick look today to make a list of things that still need to be done and move on to the AoS Lexi.--Ashendant (talk) 14:16, 16 December 2019 (UTC)

well done for all the hard work - take a break :) --Viktor (talk) 17:10, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
