When Lumpin Croop who had been poaching, visited the Old Pig and Bucket in the village of Beggar's Ford he found himself face to face with a group of cudgel armed gamekeepers. He managed to spin them a tale of excitement, treasure and most important banquets that were for the taking over the mountains in Tilea and after many drinks - Lumpin Croop's Fighting Cocks were born. [2]

Since then he has been trying to give his companions the slip but as they are all skilled woodsmen, they have always caught up with on what he subsequently describes as Training Exercises. As excellent archers and scouts, there services have become much in demand. [2]
