Hy there, it seems that you have rejoined this wiki. While I certainly respect your willingness to improve this wiki I must point out that it is not advisable to copy whole paragraphs from an armybook (in this case armybook Wood Elves 6th edition page 4). The texts are protected by copyright (I know I know, so are the images and names and everything else but there is a limit somewhere which is unwise to cross). I'm afraid but I'm forced to revert the added material. We have to write our own texts based upon the material of Games Workshop. I hope that you don't take this personally. Aehren 21:14, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Ok no worries, my bad! Give me 10mins and i'll change it all so its in my own words - thanks for letting me know. Will.

Furthermore as we create our own text we can reduce the size (I honestly like the long and detailed descriptions of GW but for an encyclopaedia they are simply far too long). Another important addition are the sources: the title of the book together with the page number. My best example is the article Elf pantheon. Aehren 22:44, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Lexicanum:Sourcing ;).--Genestealer, Magus 23:52, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Your efforts are fine and I'm hereby only making some suggestions.

How about merging the short articles (about Assuryan, Isha, Kurnous, etc) into a larger 'Cadai' article? I'm of the opinion that a larger article is simply better than a half a dozen small articles. Aehren 15:50, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
Same thing for the Cytharai. Perhaps we should merge them into a single article. Aehren 15:50, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Elven? Elfish? Now I do know that this is a very unclear issue but my reasoning is that the English language is more or less clear in these matters

Humanity, human people, he is (a) human (being), Human civilization, (a) human language (one out of out of many), plural: humans
Germany, German people, he is German, German civilization, German language, plural: Germans
England, English people, he is English, English civilization, English language, plural: English
Cornwall, Cornish people, he is Cornish, Cornish civilization, Cornish language, plural: Cornish
Scotland, Scottish people, he is a Scot/he is Scottish, Scottish civilization, Scottish language, plural: Scots
Europe, European people, he is European, European civilization, European language, plural: Europeans

Ergo (IMHO)

?, Elf people, he is an Elf, Elf civilization, Elf language, plural: Elves (not 'Elfs', seems to be an irregular form)
?, Dwarf people, he is a Dwarf, Dwarf civilization, Dwarf language, plural: Dwarfs
Orcdom, Orc people, he is an Orc, Orc civilization, Orc language, plural: Orcs

However English is not my mother tongue, and I may be mistaken. Aehren 15:50, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Aye i guess that makes sense! I'll merge them into one larger article.

And yes i think your right aswell about the Elfish/Elven thing!

After ive merged them though, how do i delete the smaller articles?

Better to turn them into redirects. Aehren 16:15, 27 April 2009 (UTC) Let me work with the Cytharai and you deal with the Cadai. This way it's easier and quicker. Aehren 16:15, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Ok sorted. But just run me through how to set up directs quickly?

  • redirects

Simply remove whatever is written in an article, replacing it with a #REDIRECT [[title of the chosen article]]. If you make a 'move' this is done automatically (you can do it only once though). Aehren 16:20, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Ok so just replace it with #REDIRECT Cadai in this circumstance? I've started the article, but am about to pop out for an hour, so will finish it when i get back.

No problem, I can do it. Aehren 16:31, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

I'm a fool

Please don't be angry with me but I took a good look at the article Cadai and it is simply way too large. Everybody makes mistakes from time to time and I made a simple one. I was watching the article about the Elf deities one by one (a bit too small) but failed to realize that all the material put together is simply way too much for a single article. I will take the responsibility for this small blunder and will restore the previous articles asap. Sorry Aehren 16:46, 27 April 2009 (UTC) I will also delete the Cadai article but then restore it with more general information without giving too many details.

I was just wondering (im not that computer literate!) to insert images do you just link from a website or save the image first to your hard-drive? could you also give me the criteria for inserting images. Thanks

First I save them in my computer. Afterwards I upload them into the Lexicanum. Aehren 20:52, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

@Will564752: Thanks for the question - I "created" (i.e. stole them from the 40k section) the necessary help articles (here and here). Oh, and please sign your comments with --~~~~ or this button.--Genestealer, Magus 20:55, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Portal boxes

What's your opinion on deleting all the portal boxes? Take a look on Dominic2 talkpage. Aehren 02:37, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Sundering

Will if you're unsure of such an important subject just leave it be. To be honest you have the "juice of the matter" but many important details are simply completely wrong and many assumptions you made are mistaken. I (or someone else) will eventually write this article (boy that is going to be a lot of work). Meanwhile I going to copy your draft into my talkpage and delete the article (it has simply too many important mistakes). Notice that to provide several links to the same subject (e.g.: "Malekith is the son of Anarion, Malekith is the Witch King, Malekith is a traitor") is simply unnecessary and very tiresome. It's way better to provide a single link at the fist mention and then carry on (as in: "Malekith is the son of Anarion, Malekith is the Witch King, Malekith is a traitor"). As a better example read the article Hellebron or Council of Thirteen. And no, I'm not mad at you, I'm just trying to give you a couple of good advices. Remember: if you're unsure about an important subject just leave it be. NO SPECULATION. Write about stuff you're sure and know. Aehren 13:25, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

I didn't write the article...! i believe it was Dominic2 Will564752 13:29, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

O shi*, I guess I'm still a bit tired. I'm truly sorry. Aehren 13:28, 4 May 2009 (UTC) PS: you can sign your post with 4 ~
