Giants fighting in the Big Bash

The Big Bash is a traditional and very violent contest enacted by the Giants of Albion. [1a]

On Albion, each season and sometimes more often, four Giants will gather in an ancient circle of Ogham stones to fight. Some suggest that this may be a religious ceremony but most are just happy that the Giants are bashing each other’s brains out rather than anyone else’s! [1a]

Other giants spectating often get upset if blood is not being spilled and will begin to throw rocks at still standing Giants. [1a]

Rules

The winner of the Big Bash is the last Giant standing within the circle. [1a]

Variants

  • Royal Rubble: Traditionally fought at Beltem and originally started by Gogrogagog, King of the Giants - when a Giant is defeated, a new contender can enter the ring. The King was an impatient fellow and hence swiftly flung rocks into the fight and this tradition continues with Giants throwing rocks which gives the game its name. [1b]
  • Throne of Stone: A simple knock-out contest with the competitors pairing up to fight - the winner gets to sit on the throne which is located at the highest point of the Giant's Causeway. [1b]
