An Alchemist studies Alchemy, a combination of magic and science that deals with the properties of matter. [1a]
Well known as experts in preparing checmical compounds, recognising mineral ores, they may be able to prepare explosives and assist metalworkers. Other are unwilling to use their powers and skills for such mundane matters and instead focus on the transformation of substances into gold. [1a]
Many alchemists are based in Universities or even run their own schools. [1a]
