Ludwig XII
Duke Ludwig XII was an Ottilian Emperor and the ruler of Grand Duchy Of Talabec in 2276 IC. He was one many of the Imperial pretenders during The Anarchy.[1a][2]
His capital was at Talabheim but he had weak influence to the other parts of his fractured dutchy who were mostly self-governing.[1a][2] His multicultural rule was backed by Cult of Taal and other cults.[1a][2] As a result in Talabecland wizards enjoyed far more freedoms compared to Reikland, where they were outlawed and burned at stake.[3a] In turn, fanatic Reiklanders greatly disliked the Duchy of Talabec.[1a]
History
Ludwig XII became the Duke after the suspicious death of his predecessor Ludwig XI in 2248 IC. The situation between Reikland and Talabec quickly became heated as Reikland forces and Sigmarite missionaries and Witch Hunters pushed into Talabecland. Duke Ludwig XII increased his own patrols and soon in the Drakwald Forest Incident Talabheimers defeated a Reiklander force and captured the zealous Witch Hunter Dietrich Haslav. Haslav, who had initiated the violent incident, was taken to Talabheim for trial and executed. This provided a casus belli for the rival provinces to declare open war.[1b]
