Balun Alriksson
Balun Alriksson was the High King of the Dwarfs and ruler of Karaz-a-Karak between 2206 IC and 2304 IC. [1b][2b][3a]
Family
He was the son of the previous High King Alrik.[3c]
Alriksson had sons of his own. Unfortunately they all perished in the Great Chaos Incursion before him. [1b]
Alriksson highly regarded Thorgrim Ulleksson, the son of his sister Kemma Alriksdottir and Ulli Grimbolg, Thane of Clan Ullek. Thorgrim was raised and mentored along Alriksson's own sons. After serving as a Thronebearer Alriksson even appointed his nephew into the prestigous position of Kharl of the Dammaz Kron, to study the Dammaz Kron on his behalf. [1b][3c]
History
In 2205 IC High King Alrik and Goblin Warlord Gorkil Eyegourger fought at the edge of the falls as their armies collided in the Battle of Black Falls. The Goblin is mortally wounded but managed to drag his enemy off the falls to their deaths. The enraged Dwarfs led by Alriksson massacred the Goblins into the icy water. [1a][2a]
Around 2276 IC High King Alriksson declined to send warriors to aid Burlok Damminson in the Reclamation of Khazid Vorsk.[3a]
In 2302 IC High King Alriksson marched an army from Karaz-a-Karak to Kislev in the Great War Against Chaos. Not as many holds had answered his summons as he had hoped. Still, the Invasion was defeated at Battle for Kislev's Gate. The High King was honoured by would-be-emperor Magnus the Pious. [1a][1b]
In 2303 IC the victorious High King Alriksson returned home. Yet he had suffered various wounds that would not fully heal and his sons had died. Alriksson therefore called a Council of Kings to decide the succession. A plan for the succession was decided and a year later the Dwarf royalty again gathered for a contest of deeds and words. Although many present were impressed by Buregar of the Angrund Clan and Ungrim Ironfist, it was his nephew Thorgrim Grudgebearer whose adventures, deeds and words led to him being aclaimed as the next High King. His final task achieved, Alriksson passed away in 2304 IC. He was considered a great king. [1b]
