According to scholars in the Old World, Emperor Wu was the ruler of Cathay in the 17th/18th century IC. [1a]

In reality this is mistranslation of a title of the Celestial Dragon Emperor with Wu actually meaning Magical Lord. [3]

History

Around 1690 IC, Wu sent a fleet of a thousand ships carrying an army of one hundred thousand warriors to conquer and colonise the Southlands. The fleet was scattered by an initial typhoon and then destroyed at anchor by a second storm - the majority of the army had already disembarked and marched inland to their deaths. Only one man, Captain Yin-Tuan survived the expedition, the captain of a War junk scattered by the initial Typhoon all the way to Lustria and who finally made it home to tell his story to the Emperor. After ordering his tale recorded, Wu made him commander of the Palace Guard. [2a]

A decorative silk banner of his Palace Guard was lost and found its way to Karaz-a-Karak where two Tilean merchants were inspired to create an expedition to the east in 1699 IC. Finally they arrived at the border of Cathay and Emperor Wu accepted the submission and tribute of Tilea and allowed them to create an enclave in the western most fortress-town on the border of his vast realm, Shang-Yang opening up the Silk Road in 1714 IC. [1a]

The Emperor also hired the substantial, although hairy and uncouth mercenary forces to help the defend the western frontier of Cathay although they are not permitted to enter Cathay itself. [1a]
