Jaan Maartens
Admiral Jaan Maartens was the senior priest of Manann in Marienburg in the 24th Centruy IC. [1b]
It is said the sword he wielded had the power to command the waves. [1a]
History
When the Pirate Baron Bartholomeus the Black, based at Reavers' Point declared himself Lord of the Seas and all the Waste, the merchants of the Marienburg decided to act. They built a fleet and offered command to Jaan Maartens who led them into battle and defeated the corsair fleet in an action that lasted a full day. [1b]
As the battle reached its height, Jaan and Bartholomeus engaged in single combat aboard the pirate flagship, the Black Angel but both were lost overboard. Legend has it that both still hunt each other on the land and sea around Reavers' Point. [1b]
