Gaerkkoll
Gaerkkoll was a shaman of the Aesling tribe of Norsca.[1]
History
He was called upon by the wise women of the tribe to aid in the birth of the son of Melekh but as he was both drunk and drugged, he lost control of his magic, killing Keyla and mutating her son, giving him the head of a bird. The Shaman did not approve of the chieftain proclaiming the baby as a good omen and sign from their patron, Zarechgor, but worse was to come. [1]
The chieftain further announced that their god had told him to hold a contest of might to select a new apprentice for Gaerkkoll. The Shaman searched his scrolls and to his horror found a prophecy written by Necromundo the Insane that a mighty warrior would arise and unite the tribes. Gaerkkoll slit the belly of a rabbit and spent hours reading the entrail which told him that time of fulfilment was upon them. [1]
Melekh fought his way through the other contestants and was hailed as the champion of the tribe but Graerkkoll sought to forestall the prophecy from coming true. He dispatched commanded that Melekh was to go forth and find the true name of their god - a mighty task that would likely end in his death. [1]
Twenty years passed and Gaerkkoll had not only taken Cyspeth, the champions son as a apprentice but had himself become chieftain. He foresaw the return of Melekh and gathered the tribe to face him when he emerged through a portal from the Realm of Chaos at the head of a force of Daemons. As the two armies prepared for battle, Archaon arrived in a great bolt of lightning to watch the conflict, stating that And with the coming of the end of times, the old will fall by the hand of the new.. [1]
At the height of the battle, Melekh confronted the shaman but neither could gain an advantage until Gaerkkoll managed to knock his enemy from his disc. Gaerkkoll laughed manically, thinking he had prevented the ascension of the Everchosen and would now take his place! Instead, as he raised his sword to behead Melekh, Cyspeth stabbed him in the back.
