There are many Languages in the Warhammer world. Many are written but some of them are only spoken.

Chaos
- Dark Tongue or Black Speech is the potent language of Chaos. It is used by Chaos Cultists and followers of Chaos.
- Beast Tongue, spoken by the Beastmen, is a dialect of the Dark Tongue.
Dwarfs
- Khazalid is the language of the Dwarfs and the Cult of Sigmar.[1]
Elves
The Elves speak various dialects of Eltharin. It is notoriously difficult to non-elves to learn.[2]
- Tar-Eltharin is spoken by High Elves.
- Fan-Eltharin is spoken by Wood Elves.
- Druhir is the language of the Dark Elves.[3]
Humans
- Oldworlder is a group of related languages and dialects spoken in the Old World.
- Albion is spoken in the island of Albion.[4]
- Battle Tongue is used by the warriors of the Old World. It is used to give orders in battles and is common among soldiers and mercenaries. Supposedly developed by goddess Myrmidia.[5]
- Bretonnian is spoken in Bretonnia.[6]
- Classical, or Classical Old Worlder, is a dead language, but is still used by academics. It is the first recorded Human Language of the Old World, over three millenia old. Used in many scholarly text such as wizard grimoires and holy books.[7]
- Reikspiel is spoken in The Empire. A modern version of the language once spoken by God-King Sigmar when he was mortal. It has many discrete dialects, many of which are mutually intelligible. [8]
- Estalian is spoken in Estalia.[9]
- Tilean is spoken in Tilea.[10]
- Gospodarinyi, also called Kislevarin or Kislevite, is spoken in Kislev.[11]
- Thieves Tongue is highly localised language used by the street folk of the Old World. For example, Tilean and Imperial Thieves Tongue are completely separate languages.[12]
- Wastelander is spoken by the rural folk of the Wasteland, although the official language of the capital Marienburg is still Reikspiel.[13]
- Cathan is the language of the administrative classes of Cathay.
- Norse is spoken by the Norsca.
Wizards
- Magick is a tonal language used not for communication but to shape the Winds of Magic into material effects.[14]
- Lingua Praestantia is an academic form of Magick taught by the imperial Colleges of Magic. Quite different to the language used by witches and the untrained. [15]
Halflings
Lizardmen
The Lizardmen speak Saurian [17], a language divided into 4 specialized dialects.
- Slann is spoken by the Slann [18], and also understood by the Skinks. The Skinks record the rare commands of the Slann and then debate about their precise meaning.
- Skinkian is spoken by the Skinks [19], who are able to speak all Lizardmen languages. Very intelligent Skinks are also capable of learning human languages although their ability of pronouncing them is somewhat impaired.
- Crude Saurian is spoken by the Saurus [20]. It is the most limited and simplified dialect, consisting of about 50 words. Most of its vocabulary deals with martial matters.
- The Kroxigor speak the lowest dialect [21]. Their vocabulary deals with construction and war, and many terms are interchangeable.
Orcs & Goblins
- Goblin Tongue (Goblinoid languages)
- Gházhakh is spoken by Goblins.
- Hargházhakh is spoken by Hobgoblins.
- Orrakh is spoken by Orcs.
- Snotgob is spoken by Snotlings.
Skaven
Ogres
- Grumbarth is a simple language used by the Ogre Kingdoms and few mercenary commanders that work with Ogre Maneaters.[23]
