  • Helhein: One of the founders of the hold following a bloody feud with High King Gorim Ironhammer, they were known for their grim but doughty warriors. Survivors of the fall re-settled in Karak Eight Peaks but some have wandered into the Mountains of Mourn to seek their fortune and are now known more for their continuing bad luck. [6]

History

Famed for its huge deposits of ore and precious gems the dwarfs at Ekrund became incredibly wealthy and powerful enough to take a seat on the High Kings council. Miner King Ekkel Olivsson led his army, with those of Barak Varr and Karak Azgul[5] to destroy the Elf colonies during the War of Vengeance in what would eventually become Tilea. [1][5]

Despite its wealth it was not prepared for a massive onslaught by a orc and goblin horde led by Argor Foespike [4] which surged out of the Badlands.[1] The Miner King Murkan Ekkelsson fought long and hard but was eventually overwhelmed and the surviving population was forced to flee whilst the invaders were celebrating in the equally famed brewery.[1]

Many were evacuated via the Black Gulf by the ships of their ally, Barak Varr[5] and some would later set up new holds in the Vaults including Karak Izor. [1]

The Great Book of Grudges in Karaz-a-Karak records the fall of the hold in -1490 IC. [3]

The Orcs and Goblins made it into a fortress and now its huge chambers breed large numbers of Cave Squigs which they export to other tribes.[2]
