Locations
Their headquarters is a fortress-like and grim building surrounded by a high wall with only one entrance through a heavy black gate in the capital city of Kislev. The building is often used to torture and kill the enemies of the Tzarina or culists of the the Dark Gods. [1b]
Membership
The most important qualification needed to become a chekist is absolute loyalty to the Tzarina, closely followed by competence. Their existence is not secret, and they do have a lot of open members, but they also have undercover spies searching for signs of corruption and opposition to Katarin’s rule. [1a]
Powers
by decree of the Tzarina the Chekist are infallible in their interpretation of the law. Whatever they say is the law, is the law, and any penalties they choose to inflict are always appropriate to the crime. They never convict the wrong people even if they arrest and torture people who prove to be innocent, that is not the fault of the chekist. However a Chekist who displays excessive cruelty and incompetence will be arrested by their superiors and soon become even more closely acquainted with the furnishings of their own interrogation rooms. [1a]
Uniform
A chekist carries an elaborate, minted medallion identifying themselves and they will show it if required to prove who they are. They wear black when on duty but have no formal uniform beyond that. Posing as a Chekist is not difficult but highly dangerous. [1a]
