Gallows Tree
The Gallows Tree is a infamous entity and gateway to the Garden of Nurgle in the northern Chaos Wastes. [1a]
It lies within a great rotting swamp of thorns over which it looms high with many foul creatures dwelling beneath its disgusting canopy. [1a]
Followers of Nurgle seek it out for within the tree is a gateway to the garden where a female Great Unclean One, the Pox-mother will grant rewards of prophecy and dark secrets to the worthy. Those who fail to impress her are tormented and then hung from the branches of her tree for the crows and maggots. [1a]
History
Tamurkhan brought his vast horde to the tree, seeking guidance and a blessing from the daemon-hag, going alone to the foot of the great tree and stepping within. [1a]
He was transported to the Garden and there met the vast daemon, even his blessings straining to maintain his sanity. Tamurkhan pledged to destroy the city of Nuln, home of Magnus the Pious and in exchange received her blessing as well as many scrolls containing the true names of many daemons. Finally he was gifted with a great filth-stained amphora which held within foul water from the Garden itself. [1a]
