Brass Skull
The Brass Skull is a magical artefact containing part of the essence of Xathrodox, a Daemon of Khorne. [1]
It is far heavier than it should be and casts strange shadows, too big and too black and if blood is shed near the skull, they will slowly move towards it. If the blood reaches the skull, it will become warm and somehow gain a satisfied look. Animals fear and hate the skull. [2b]
History
As a Daemon favoured by the Blood God, his arrogance and power grew until he drew the wrath of Khorne who pinned him down with his boot heel and tore his essence into three parts. Each was placed into a different artefact - a chalice, a dagger and a brass skull and given to mortal champions to spread bloodlust through the world. [1]
Around 2300 IC, the skull came into the possession of Kazron Gorespite, a Champion of the Blood God who came south but fell whilst fighting against the forces of Magnus the Pious. His surviving followers buried his remains and possessions in a tomb within the Drakwald and later Beastmen raised a Herdstone over the top of the grave. [2a]
