Kroq-Gar on Grymloq

Scar-Leader Kroq-Gar, the Last Defender of Xhotl, is an ancient Saurus Hero. [1a] [3c]

Over his long existence, he has fought many wars. There is no continent where Kroq-Gar and Grymloq have not fought.[3c]

Appearance

A huge Saurus with a crocodilian head. [1a]

History

First spawned in the city of Xhotl with only a handful of other Saurus, all of which were marked by the god and had a inherent ability to dominate the beasts and monsters of the jungle. Kroq-Gar himself claimed the largest and most aggressive Carnosaur of a brood reared when he was spawned. [2c][3c]

After the fall of the Polar Gates, Kroq-Gar led many patrols destroying hordes of Daemons as the Mage Priest Chaqo-Quantal focused on defending the city magically. However, after thirty cycles of the sun, a crack in these defences allowed the Daemons to break in and tear apart the Slann before Kroq-Gar could reach them. [2c]

He fought on with his dwindling forces until the last of the Daemons were banished but the city was now in ruins. Kroq-Gar then led his remaining warriors on wide ranging hunts through the jungle, destroying the never born wherever they could be found. [2c]

During the Shrunken Head War of -594 IC, he slew the warbosses of all six Savage Orc tribes. [3b]

He is said to have killed over a thousand Skaven Warlords since the rise of Sotek. [3a]

Kroq-Gar was summoned by Lord Mazdamundi to Hexoatl and given command over the remaining armies of Saurus - he as also presented with the Hand of Gods to sear the flesh from the bones of his enemies. The Slann Mage-Priest tasked him with exterminating all those creatures that were not part of the Great Plan. [3c]

When Dark Elf Raiders appeared via the Black Way, Kroq-Gar defeated them and then has their Black Ark, the Umbral Tide grounded and destroyed. [3b]

In 2520 IC, Kroq-Gar was dispatched to Albion through magical portals to cleanse the island of warm-bloods before Lord Mazdamundi altered the climate of the island to allow jungles to grow. Construction then began on the city of Konquata. [2a] [2c]

After Hexoatl was attacked by Vashnaar the Tormentor in 2522 IC, both Kroq-Gar and Mazdamundi returned from Konquata to the threatened city. [2a]

End Times

Kroq-Gar in the End Times

From 2520 -2523 IC, Kroq-Gar fought to hold back the Daemons at Xahutec, his legions managing to contain them but suffering huge losses, forcing the major cities to continually supply reinforcements to him, weakening their own garrisons. [4a] Towards the end of 2523 IC, he received word via Skink Messengers that Xlanhuapec was under attack followed by messages that the same was true of Itza and Tlaxtlan - he split his armies and sent forces to each, heading to Xlanhuapec himself. He and his legion swept into the city and slaughtered the Skaven and by the time the cleansing had concluded, ten heads of chieftains hung from his saddle. [4a]

In 2535/6 IC he was summoned to Hexoatl to take command the army that was to march south to deal with the huge skaven horde advancing on the city. As Lord Mazdamundi meditated on what was being hidden from him, Kroq-Gar led the army to the Obsidian Column, part of the Geomantic Web ready to face Clan Pestilens who were pursuing the remnants of the army of Tehenhauin. As the Skaven charged towards the Lizardmen army, Mazdamundi emerged from his meditations and used his Geomantic powers to send a wave of rock to crash down upon the oncoming horde, burying thousands beneath miles of rock and earth. [4c]

The ancient Slann then teleported half of the army to the First city - Itza which was being attacked by an even larger army led by Lord Skrolk.[4c] Having determined that there was a growing threat to the world, Mazdamundi commanded Kroq-Gar to clear a path to the Great Temple of the city and so he led his army to cut through the massing ratmen. The brutal wedge of Lizardmen cut through the Skaven but as they progressed, the flanks became increasingly hard-pressed upon by growing numbers of the enemy. [4d]

Once again, the Slann shifted his attention, ignoring the conflict around him as Lord Skrolk and his Pestilens Guard moved to engage the flying column. The twisted blind Plaguelord used his powers to decay instantly the mighty carnosaur that Kroq-Gar rode and although he too was affected by the tainted air, the saurian lord strode forth to meet the Skaven priest in single combat. [4d]

Skrolk attempted to smite the oncoming warrior with his contaminated rod but Kroq-Gar grabbed and crushed its orb with the Hand of Gods, the ancient artefact purifying the air around it before the Saurian lord rammed the Revered Spear through the Plaguelord. As he lifted the ratman above his head, the verminlord Vermalanx manifested, engulfing all nearby in a stream of corruption, melting the remaining temple guard and dropping Kroq-Gar to one knee. Healing his minion with profane words from the Liber Bubonicus, the daemon and Skrolk vanished in a cloud of darkness. [4d]

After a few moments, Kroq-Gar rose once more, receiving an urgent message that he was needed at the Obelisk of the Silver Stars within the hour. The nearby Skaven broke and ran before him with those too slow being slaughtered but noting he was moving too slowly, he roared to summon a new carnosaur. It is not known if he managed to reach the Obelisk before the Exodus began and Lustria was destroyed. [4d]

Abilities

He is famed for his Bony Plates along his back and devastating Massive Jaws with which he bites off enemy heads[2a] and is part of Sacred Spawning of Xhotl, protecting both him and his Carnosaur.[3c]
