History
In 2525/6 IC the bulk of Clan Pestilens and a number of thrall clans were led to Itza to destroy the First City and everything within. They were confronted by the defenders of the city and the host of Hexoatl under Lord Mazdamundi and led by Kroq-Gar. [1a][1b]
Battle
Arriving at the city, Kroq-Gar dispatched patrols out ahead of his army, all of the Lizardmen conscious of but ignoring the heavy contamination that was present at Itza. The skaven were already within its confines but Mazdamundi demanded that his forces make haste in their advance and soon skirmishers on both sides clashed, the tainted air invigorating the skaven and making many lizardmen slow and sluggish. [1c]
As the main reptilian army forged forwards, Lord Skrok accompanied by the Pestilens Guard directed a horde of monks to counter them. The Saurus warriors, led by Kroq-Gar surged to meet them whilst Tittaq'to hurtled down from above leading the Sky Cohort. Kroq-Gar forged forwards, he and his mount tearing apart any skaven foolish enough to stand in his path - he had been commanded to bring his lord to the Great Temple and there was no doubt he would do so. [1c]
The Lizardmen approached the Great Temple of the city, the hub of the entire Geomantic Web but Mazdamundi could feel that time was slipping away. Lord Skrolk himself now moved to face Kroq-Gar in battle, guided by his Verminlord patron and the great beast that the ancient saurian was mounted on let forth a mighty roar of challenge. Atop his own monstrous mount, Mazdamundi unfettered his mind to seek answers and in doing so perceived a found a powerful energy beam was directed at the Chaos Moon. He saw it become super heated and then explode, potentially dooming the world, his spirit self being flung back into his body. [1c]
He teleported within the temple, risking moving between worlds despite the veil between worlds being so weak. The battle continued to rage in the central plaza as Clan Eshin and skinks dueled atop the Pyramid of Chotec and ferocious fighting broke out above the now sealed Garden of Bountiful Harmony. Kroq-Gar emerged from the ruin of his carnosaur which had been caused to decay instantly by Lord Skrolk. Feeling himself being drained by the miasma, Kroq-gar knew he had to end the fight swiftly and moved to destroy the twisted blind rat - he caught the censor in the Hand of Gods, crushing the profane weapon and then ramming the Revered Spear of Tlanxla through the Skaven. [1c]
Before he could finish his enemy, Vermalanx manifested before the Last Defender, vomiting darkness to wither the remaining Temple Guard into oblivion and making their lord drop to one knee. The Verminlord pulled out the honoured weapon, although he burnt his hands at its mere touch and flung it aside as he spoke the words he had written within the Liber Bubonicus to seal the wound in Skrolk before the pair vanished in a cloud of blackness. [1c]
Kroq-Gar himself felt his gauntlets burn away the corruption as he received a message to move to the Obelisk of the Silver Stars within the hour. Within the Great Temple began his last great task - using the vast reserves of the Geomantic Web to attempt to deflect the vast shards of the moon heading towards the planet. At the same time he contacted the other Slaan to gain aid but also for some of them to prepare for Exodus from the Warhammer World. As the most powerful slann alive, with the support of his kin attempted to stop the moon, the battle raged on in the city around him. [1c]
One by one, the Slann deflecting and destroying the fragments of the moon perished until only Mazdamundi remained and his vast efforts almost stopped the remaining shards before he collapsed, blood leaking from his eyes and moon. He attempted to crawl up into the fresh air at the top of the temple but did not make it. Lord Kroak felt the passing of his pupil and raised a mummified hand to try and forestall the last remnants of the moon as they moved to impact with the world - he succeeded containing the destruction to the Southlands and Lustria before being destroyed by the devastation.
