The Siege of Xlanhuapec was an attack on the Lizardmen Temple-City of Xlanhuapec by the Skaven Clan Pestilens during the End Times in 2523 IC. [1c]

History

Clan Pestilens assigned two entire armies to attack Xlanhuapec, each led by a separate Plague Lord, each with their own strategy to penetrate the enchanted mists that protected the city. Lord Skrimanx ordered his legions of slaves to mount braziers at their fore and attach each of their banners to the one behind in order they not become lost. In contrast, Lord Blistrox had enlisted the services of Reekit who promised his tech-arcane devices would see them through the mist. [1c]

The two forces entered the mists and it quickly became clear that braziers were of limited use - not only could the Skaven only see a few feet in front of them but strange shapes began to bee seen all around them. Lord Skrimanx's own command pulled in their chain to the nearest slave regiment - only to find that it was connected to nothing more than bloody hunks of meat. A Skaven who knew when to cut his losses, Skirmanx retreated from the mist and fled back into the jungle. [1c]

At the same time, Lord Blistrox was making good progress due to the lenses of Reekit whose devices could not only highlight the apparent fog beasts as mere illusions but also identify any real ambushers lying in wait for them. Using warpfire throwers and poisoned wind mortars they slowly cleared their path and finally reached the city proper. The Black claws informed Blistrox that his rival had fled the scene and he told them to kill the Slann within the city -tripling their pay when they confirmed they had only been paid for one kill. [1c]

Progressing through the mists had been a tense affair and now the ratmen were able to release their fury on the Lizardmen inhabitants of Xlanhuapec. Despite this, the Saurus warriors held their ground - especially since they were fresh having not had to cross a terrifying morass - at least until the Skaven unleashed poisoned wind globes into their mass followed by warpfire throwers. The majority of the Skaven were killed and the remaining Skinks were driven off in disarray and as they fled, the skaven began to loot the city. [1c]

Work beasts were devoured, vaults were infiltrated and and plundered and hatcheries had their eggs smashed and the young lizardmen consumed. Ancient relics were found such as the Device of the Great Beyond which was shoot apart by the Warlock Engineer]]s when strange voices came through which reminded them of Elves. The temple-pyramids however remained inviolate as the Temple Guard slaughtered any skaven who dared to approach them. [1c]

The Clan Eshin contingent sought to infiltrate the Temple of Eternal Serenity as the other skaven assaulted the lower levels and reached the Star Chamber at the apex of the pyramid. They unleashed a hail of throwing stars at the unconscious Slann, Lord Huinitenuchli but these were intercepted by the Star-stone Mace of Chakax who faced the Eshin force down. The initial charge of the gutter runners saw several smashed into a pulp and it quickly became clear that they were no match for the Prime Guardian. As the last of them were killed, a full fledged assassin entered the battle. [1c]

Deflecting his attention with a flurry of one hundred and thirty Six sword slashes and stabs - all of which Chakax blocked, the assassin managed to stab him with his Weeping Blade and waited for the Saurus to drop. However, Chakax did not fall, merely grabbed the startled Skaven with one hand and killed him with his mace before returning to his vigil. [1c]

Although by this time Blistrox had achieved a number of objectives - the city had fallen, the breeding pools had been polluted but the Slann were still safe the seven temples. In addition he had lost control over many of the lesser clans who were most interested in looting than fighting the deadly Temple Guard. After days of besieging the pyramids, Blistrox led his own Plague Monks to break through the defences of the Temple of Infinite Coils, finding Lord Hua-Hua who had been beginning to awake. Before the Slann could do so, he was stabbed by hundreds of blades, dispelling the mists that protected the city. [1c]

The Plague Lord moved to the apex of the pyramid as his minions scoured the Star Chamber but it was from here that he spotted a approaching Lizardmen army led by the mighty Kro-Gar. Blistrox immediately gathered his own forces and fled the city, leaving the other clans to face the Lizardmen. The avenging host swept through the city like a vengeful storm, cutting down the verminous hordes and by the end of the clearance, ten chieftain heads hung from the saddle of Kroq-gar. [1c]
