Rakaph I marked the beginning of the Second Dynasty of the rule of Khemri. He took over during a period of strife and destruction, seeing civil war everywhere.[1a]

He is famed for his part in pacifying Nehekhara and Khemri, as well as restoring the old priests and former kings to their rightful places of power.[1a]

After the great awakening, in the 2877th year of Settra's rule Rakaph marched three times against the desert dwellers.[1b]

He was succeeded by King Rakhash.[1a]
