Liche High Priest Ashurtak is a Hierophant of the Mortuary Cult. [1a]

History

In 2276 IC the recently risen Tomb King Septhah the Amaranthine fell in battle fighting against a Bretonnian crusade in the Badlands. His furious Great King Settra the Imperishable invaded the Border Princes and dispatched elements of the Mortuary Cult to recover the body of king Septah and raise his spirit again from the Underworld. [1a]

Hierophant Ashurtak led his forces into the Dragonback Mountains where they found the remains of Septhah's army but there was no sign of the king himself. Continuing the search, Ashurtak suspected that the Asur of the tower of Tor Anrok may have played some part and so marched on the elf fortress to determine the truth. [1a]

Although the Elves claimed that they knew nothing of the king’s fate or the location of his body, the forces of the Cult joined by those of the cursed Tomb Prince Apophas and sacked the tower. However again, no trace of the king could be found. [1a]

Ashurtak marched on towards Barak Varr and the Citadel of Myrmidia, destroying all in his path until finally he and his army was confronted by a horde of Orcs & Goblins. Much to the Hierophants surprise, the Orc Warboss had the body of the missing king as part of the huge trophy rack strapped on his back. After the orc refused to return the body, Clash on the Zandri Road began.[1a]

Quotes

Return King Septhah to me and I will let you live to see another sunrise. Refuse, and you and your pathetic warband will be food for carrion.

~ The final warning of Ashurtak.[1b]
